NSS Activities Report (2018-2019)
Government College of Arts and Science,Aurangabad has three units of NSS.There are 100 students in each unit,i.e there are total 300 students. Principal, Dr.Rohini Kulkarni-Pandhare appointed Dr.Pradnyashailee Sawai,Asst.Prof.,dept of English as NSS Programme officer and Dr.S.G.Thakur,Asst.Prof,dept of Sociology and Mr.Bharat Usare,Asst.Prof.,dept.of Geography as assistant programme officers for the academic year 2018-2019.Following activities were performed during the academic year 2018-2019;
Tree plantataion was done in the college campus on 21st July 2018.Twenty students and Dr.Pradnyashailee Sawai planted the saplings. The Princpal,Office superintendent Mr.Prahlad Adhagale and two Police inspectors from the Damini vigilance squad were present on this occasion.
- Annabhau Sathe Jayanti
The NSS Programme officer, assistant officers and the committee members attended the function of Annabhau Sathe Jayanti on 1st August 2018.
Rakshabandhan programme was organized on 2nd August 2018according to the university calendar.NSS girl volunteers tied rakhis on the wrists of construction workers, watchmen and the class IV staff of the college.
- ‘Read Tagore’
A programme,’Read Tagore’was organized to mark the death anniversary of Gurudeo Rabindranath Tagore on 7th August.Programme officer,Dr.Pradnyashailee Sawai initiated the students to read the literature of Tagore.Almost 20 student volunteers read the literature of Tagore.
- Patriotic songs Programme
The NSS unit and dept.of Music arranged a programme of Patriotic songs on 14th August on occasion of independence day.Almost 20 students sang the songs and two students gave speech on this occasion.
6.Participation in flag hoisting
Two students Rahul Rathod and Deepak Kalbile participated in the independence day flag hoisting in Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University and also flag hoisting of University Foundation Day on 23rd August 2018.
The volunteers took an oath to keep clean their college campus and society. They actively participated in the cleanliness drive campaign. They cleaned college premises and streets on 24thSeptember 2018. Forty two volunteers were involved in this campaign.
8.Elocution Debate and Slogan competition
Elocution and debate competition was conducted on 28th September 2018 on the topic “ Gandhiji’s Thought“ six volunteers participates in this competition. Volunteers Kedar Kulkarni, Umesh Dharak Rahul Rathod , Priya Wagule , Shivdatt Dhengle presented their views in this competition.The Volunteers actively participated in the slogan competition on the topic “Swachchata Abhiyan “. They prepared about 40 slogans pertaining to education and society.On the occasion of “Importance of Heritage” speeches were delivered on environment conservation and plastic free society on 2nd October 2018. Twenty four volunteers actively participated in this activity. All volunteers discussed their views on plastic free society and the environment conservation. They also shared their ideas regarding environment, importance of heritage and how to protect our heritage etc.
9.Samata Shanti Padyatra
The Samata Shanti Padyatra was organized by NSS department of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University,Aurangabad on 6th December 2018,the Mahaparinirvan din of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar.This Padyatra startedfrom the statue of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar at 7.30 in the morning and ended at Bhadkal gate statue.NSS Volunteers of Government College of Arts and Science participated along with Programme officer Dr.Pradnyashailee Sawai.The Vice Chancellor of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University Dr.B.A.Chopade,Director of Student’s Development Department Dr.Mustajeeb Khan,Pro Vice Chancellor Dr.Ashok Tejankar,Registrar Dr.Sadhana Pande and all the officials of the University participated in the Padyatra.Students and NSS Programme officers from all the affiliated colleges were present in large number.
- NSS Special Camp 2018-2019
Special camp was organized by NSS unit of Government College of Arts and Science at Ohar village,Jatwada road,Aurangabad from 24th December 2018 to 30th December 2018. Day wise report of the special camp is as follows;
Day 1-24.12.2018 (Monday)
Inauguration of the special camp was done by the auspicious hands of Dr.Mustajeeb Khan, Director,department of Students Development,Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University, Aurangabad.Chief guests of the inaugural function were Sarpanch Sakubai Sonawane and Grampanchayat member Kishore Pahadiye.He happens to be the alumni of our college.The president of the function was Principal Dr.Rohini Kulkarni- Pandhare.The guests lit the ceremonial lamp, and the welcome was done by offering books and souvenir to the guests.The volunteers cleaned the village roads and all the arrangements were made for the camp.A common place was decided to build a Bandhara (Weir or low dam) because the theme of the special camp was Water conservation and Management as decided by NSS department of Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University.
Day 2-25.12.2018 (Tuesday)
The NSS volunteers started the construction of Bandhara.Dr.Ajay Deshmukh delivered a speech on ‘Emotional Intelligence and Youth’.He works as assistant professor of English at Shri.Muktanand Mahavidyalaya, Gangapur.
Day 3- 26.12.2018 (Wednesday)
Construction work continued and in the afternoon session cultural programme was presented by the students of Music department,Government College of Arts and Science, Aurangabad.
Day 4 – 27.12.2018 (Thursday)
Construction work continued.A rally was organized,posters were displayed and speech was delivered by Mr.Vilas Chandane on the topic,’Get rid of addiction’.The volunteers talked with the villagers and tried to understand their problems.They also visited the maize crop exhibition arranged for the farmers and understood the benefit of new seeds of corn which give high yield with less water.Director of NSS department,Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar University,Dr.T.R.Patil visited the camp and Bandhara site and appreciated the work done by the volunteers.
Day 5 – 28.12.2018(Friday)
Construction work continued.Dr.Prashant Chaudhari,Assistant Commissioner,department of Animal Husbandry gave a speech on ‘Conservation and Development of Animals’
Day 6 – 29.12.2018 (Saturday)
Construction work continued.Blood donation and health check-up of the villagers and the volunteers was done by the doctors of Government Hospital (GHATI).The team of ten doctors comprised specialists of various diseases.They did a thorough check up of the villagers and the NSS volunteers.Many volunteers and villagers donated blood.
Day 7 – 30.12.2018 (Sunday)
Construction of the Bandhara completed.Principal Dr.Rohini Kulkarni-Pandhare was present for the valedictory function.Volunteers gave feedback and one of them read the report of the camp.Mr.Dubhale, a senior citizen of Ohar village helped us a lot in all the arrangements, specially water arrangements therefore he was felicitated by the Programme Officer Dr.Pradnyashailee Sawai.
NSS Programme officer Dr.Pradnyashailee Sawai,Assistant Programme Officers Dr.Surrendra Thakur,Mr.Bharat Usare and committee members Dr.Archana Chapolikar,Mr.Ankush Gaikwad and Ms.Suchita Bharambe had put in lot of efforts to make this camp a great success.
Twelve volunteers of NSS went to Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University NSS department on 17th January for auditions of UTKARSH,state level cultural competition to be held at Nagpur in February 2019.Programme officer Dr. Pradnyashailee Sawai accompanied them.Following is the list of the students who participated;

12.Oath of voting
Oath of voting was taken by 150 voters (Principal,teaching,non-teaching staff and students) on 25th January 2019,National Voters Day.
- Youth Parliament audition
Four volunteers participated in the Youth Parliament audition on 28th January.Following is the list;

- 14. Workshop,’Jodidarachi Viveki Niwad’
Eight volunteers and Programme officer Dr.Pradnyashailee Sawai attended the workshop,’Jodidarachi Viveki Niwad’organised by Maharashtra Andhashraddha Nirmulan Samiti,Aurangabad branch, Janiva Prakalp and National Service Scheme open unit affiliated to Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University,Aurangabad.This workshop took place at Maulana Azad Research Centre,Majnu Hill on 14th February 2019.Following is the list of the volunteers;

15.State Level Workshop
Programme officers Dr.Pradnyashailee Sawai and Bharat Usare attended the state level workshop on SAMARTH BHARAT organized by ministry of Higher and Technical Education at Balewadi, Pune on 24th and 25th February 2019.Shri .Vinodji Tawde, minister, Higher and Technical Education department interacted with the 2500 NSS Programme officers who were present from all over Maharashtra.
