About Department

The Department of Statistics came into existence in the academic year 1982-83 in Government college of Arts and Science, Aurangabad. Considering the utility and applicability of Statistics in various fields, the department of Statistics was established in the college for undergraduate level. The unique feature of the department is the facility to opt Statistics at B.A. The students can opt the subject under faculty of Science as well as faculty of Social Science. This is the only college offering Statistics under faculty of Social Science affiliated to Dr. B.A.M. University.

After the formation of the department, the department was progressive in first decade. From the second decade it started progressing & contributed towards the prosperity of the college. Several students of the department have secured positions in the order of merit of the University examinations. Meritorious students are felicitated & encouraged. Another feature of the department is that the department runs the departmental library for the students. Several programs are conducted to enrich the students ‘ knowledge of the subject, awareness about job opportunities, Knowledge about applicability of the subject, their organizational skills etc. for better understanding of the subject, teaching aids are available in the department.
